Greg is the eldest son of Jack and Sarah McKay of Wedowee, Alabama. He attended Auburn University where he obtained a B.A. in Business in 1978. Subsequently, Greg attended Samford University's Cumberland School of Law where he obtained a Juris Doctorate degree in 1982. Presently, Mr. McKay is admitted to the Alabama Bar and is a member of the Birmingham Bar Association.
With more than 30 years experience, Greg has devoted his career to helping disabled adults and children navigate the legal system to receive benefits . While Greg specializes in all types of disability claims, which include social security and long/short term or ERISA, he is also experienced in other sub specialty areas.
Greg is married to Kate McKay and is an avid golfer and Auburn fan. The McKay's make their home in Birmingham, Alabama. Collectively, Greg and Kate have four adult children and two rescue dogs.
Kelly is a native of the Birmingham area. She came to work at McKay Law in December of 2014. Kelly is instrumental in assisting Mr. McKay with the management of long and short term disability cases. Kelly is also the firm receptionist and a valued member of the McKay Law family. It is her kind voice on the phone our clients hear most often.
Kelly and her husband make their home in Ashville, Alabama where she has a beautiful farm. Kelly has a passion for all animals but especially for her horses. She is very involved with equine rescue and horse shows involving young novice riders. Additionally, Kelly assists with student riders who seek educational scholarship opportunities through various equine organizations. Kelly is presently serving as the President of the Alabama Quarter Horse Association. Much like the other McKay Law staff, Kelly has a love of dogs and has two corgi's she's especially fond of.

Kathy (Kate) Pate-McKay is the eldest daughter of Kenneth and Brenda Pate, formally of Cordova, Alabama. Kate graduated from Cordova High School in 1987. She attended the Bevill State Community College's LPN program where she graduated with honors. Soon thereafter, Kate was accepted to the George C. Wallace School of Nursing on academic honors where she received her degree in nursing and her license to practice as a Registered Nurse. After several years of ICU and specialty training, Kate began pursing additional nursing and management education at UAB. She also obtained certification as a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant and has worked for several law firms in the areas of personal injury, workers' compensation, Medicare set aside planning and disability.
Kate is the mother of adult children, Sara Beth and Tyler Posten. Kate enjoys playing the piano and singing and has done so since childhood. She is an advocate for the Polycystic Kidney Research Foundation. Kate is also an advocate for animal rescue programs. Mrs. McKay is now fully retired from nursing due to complications of polycystic kidney disease.
